STEVEN RASKIN is a photographer and educator in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been an active exhibiting photographer since 1977 and earned an MFA degree in photography from California College of the Arts in 1991. He began teaching photography in 1983 and has taught at California College of the Arts, College of Marin, City College of San Francisco, Foothill College, The Academy of Art University, and U.C. Berkeley. He began teaching at City College of San Francisco in 1992 and was a full-time tenured member of the Photography Department faculty at CCSF from 2000 until he retired in 2019. He served as Department Chair during 2007 and again 2009 through 2011. His work includes black and white landscape, pinhole, underwater, alternative processes, and digital photography. He is currently working on a project of aerial landscapes titled Hover, in which abstract patterns and tracks left by vehicles and natural patterns from evaporation on dry and drying lake beds in Western states.
